MOPS...the last few meetings!

First of all, I would like to apologize for not updating the blog in the last month. A lot of things were going on and I got a little bit behind :0)

At our October 8th meeting, We had a great time with LeAnne Taylor from "Six in the Morning" joined us to speak on breast cancer awareness. We also had the privilege of getting professional bra fittings from True To You bra salon. I was a very fun morning and I was very happy to be able to be a part of it.

On October 22nd, Diane Davies, a professional scrapbooker spoke with us about being the mother of a special needs child and showed everyone how to make a great home made gift to give to to teachers, grandparents, aunts, etc.

At our next meeting on November 12th, Cassie from Child Shield USA will speak about child abduction and exploitation.

The first Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meeting on September 10th was a complete success! During the meeting we played ice breaker games, put together a craft that we will use as name tags, and of course eat! Bill and Cami (the Pastor and his wife) came in to introduce themselves and to share their heart about MOPS. It was great getting to meet all the new faces that we will be able to get to know on a deeper level this year. While the moms were busy in the chapel, the kids were having a lot of fun in the MOPPETS program. Their curriculum this year is about following Christ through the beatitudes with the first lesson being about being happy with what you have and not wanting what others have. Everyone left anticipating what is yet to come and excited to come back on the 24th.

We want to say a very special thank you to all who have dedicated their time to help with this wonderful ministry. We couldn't do this without you!

MOPS reminders and service opportunities!!

MOPS Ladies,

I can hardly believe that we are just a week away from our first MOPS meeting. The Steering Team has been working really hard since February to get things rolling for the new year. I have been so encouraged by the number of women who have joined our group. It has been fun to meet many of you already this summer. It is going to be a great year… together.

I just wanted to send out a little note to everyone to remind them of a couple of things.

#1. Our first meeting is next Thursday, September 10th from 9:30-11:30am in the Chapel at Parkview. The Steering Team will provide breakfast for the moms, so come hungry.
#2. If you haven’t registered or completed registration for you or your children, please contact Christina Standifer at cstandifer01@cox.net or call 615-6686.
#3. Registration is currently closed for the children’s program, MOPPETS. If you are unsure of your child’s registration status, you can contact Christina to find out.

Service Opportunity:
Parkview Church is hosting a 5K Run, “Run to the Son” this Labor Day - Monday, September 7th. Along with the 5K, there is a family fun run/walk for children as well as games, snacks, and musical performances for all ages to enjoy. Have you ever been to an event like this and thought… “where can I change this blow-out diaper?” “The baby is screaming her head off to eat, but there is nowhere to sit and feed them.” MOPS at Parkview will be providing a tent with a changing/feeding station for parents of preschoolers who are attending this event. We will have a tent set up with comfortable rockers, a changing table with diapers, wipes and hand sanitizer. We will also provide informational flyers about our MOPS program for those that are interested.

This is a simple act of service that we can provide to other moms in our community. I would love to see a few of you help out with the tent. We will be setting the tent up in the parking lot at Parkview at 6:00am on Monday morning. After that, we need a few of you to sit at the station, pass out info about our MOPS group and be a friendly, smiling face to the moms that use the changing station. You DO NOT have to change diapers. The run goes until around noon at which time we will break down the tent and move the rockers back into the building. I am planning on being there at 6:00am – who’s with me morning people? You can get more info about the run on the church website, www.parkviewbaptist.org. Reply to this email and let me know if you would like to help with the MOPS Tent at the run.

See you all soon, it is going to be a great year.
